Things you should do are:
1. Develop a flow chart of how your paper work is processed and how your products are being handled with your current system.
2. Research how other practices are operating after installing a new system.
3. Review each step in terms of your precision engineering company and answer the questions like:
- Is this step necessary or could it be eliminated?
- Is there a better way to perform the step in terms of time and cost?
- How is the step as it is being performed now affecting your products?
- Can these steps be improved in terms of improving the level of service provided to the products?
- Are there any steps not being performed now that should be performed in terms of improving practice profitability?
4. Develop a list of ideal software requirements based on your analysis of how you would like your practice to operate in the future. Use this list to assist in evaluating billing software you are considering. Although available software may not meet all of your needs after reexamining your practice, it is important to find billing software that can be easily adapted to your practice or any new requirements you may have in providing precision engineering services.
